Kotido District Local Government has tabled before council the draft budget estimates for the Financial Year 2023/ 2024 worth 17.5billion shillings.

This is a 4% reduction from the 2022/2023 budget which stood at 18.3 billion shillings.

Council Members

According to the proposed budget the health sector will take the lion’s share of 5.1billion shillings, followed by education with 4.8 while administration came third with 2.6billion shillings.

Trade, industry and Internal audit will take the least shares with an allocation of 60million shillings and 58million shillings respectively.

The district anticipates to collect-289million shillings from local revenue, 3.4billion shillings from discretionary government transfers, 11.2billion conditional grants, 378million from other government transfers and 2.2billion shillings external financing will account for to finance the budget.

The District vice chairperson Nuria Ashraf Sedigo acting on the powers of the District Chairperson presented the budget before council presided over by the district Emmanuel Lodio Lopwot who referred it to the finance committee for scrutiny.

Section 77(i) of the Local Government Act and Section 13 of the Public Finance Management Act require the Chairperson of a Local Council to cause the preparation of the proposed annual Budget.
