A total of 15 people turned up for the probationer Police Constable Recruitment exercise that kicked off Tuesday at Lomukura Primary School in Kotido municipality as the exercise rolls over to North Karamoja.

Police announced a recruitment of 2,500 probation constables in February. However, after successful applicants were shortlisted for the interviews, a section of local leaders in Napak district raised an uproar citing irregularities in the application process.
This prompted the police to order fresh recruitment across the entire nine districts of Karamoja.

SSP Godfrey Achiria the Kidepo regional police commander while speaking to our reporter at Lomukura Primary School said the exercise went on smoothly without any hurdles.
He however, disclosed that only 4 out of the 19 people who had applied did not show up at the recruitment center. He urged the applicants in the remaining districts to turn up for the exercise.
He further advised those who were interviewed and may succeed to join police to stay safe as they wait for their training
Simon Wafana, the team leader noted that the applicants who complete the whole process of interviews and meet the required pass mark will be enlisted as Probationer Police constables and will undergo at least one year of police training. He also urged those who will be successful to be disciplined.
According to the interview program the exercise will resume on Saturday 11th May in Abim at Abuk CPS, before rolling to Kaabong at Kaabong SS on Sunday 12th may and finally winding up with Karenga district on 13th may 2024 at Karenga boy’s P/S.
