Schools in North Karamoja have registered improved performance in the just released 2022 Uganda advanced certificate of Education-UACE examinations.
According to the results released on Friday by the UNEB secretary Dan Odongo a number of candidates in North Karamoja were able to post better performance and now qualify to join higher institutions of learning compared to the previous year 2020.
Paul Oboi the head teacher Jubilee SS in Karenga told Etoil A Karamoja radio that there was great improvement in this year’s performance because more candidates qualified to join higher institutions of learning.
According to Oboi this year at least 18 candidates got 3 principal compared to 4 in 2020, 15 got 2 principal passes compared to 9 in 2020, while more 15 got one principal passes to 17 in 2020, representing 84.2% out of the 58 candidates who sat the exams.
He says their best science student got 12 points in BCA and BCM with 12 points majority falling in 9, and 10 points while the best Arts student had 13 points.
In Pope Paul Memorial school Kaabong at least 3 students got 3 principal passes, 4 got 2 principal passes, while 4 got 1 principal pass compared to 2020 where one student got 3pripal passes, 5 got 2pricipal passes 2 got one principal passes while 4 went absent out of the 12 who sat that year.
Celestine Sire the district inspector of schools Kaabong district told our reporter on the phone that generally there was an improvement in the performance of students in last year’s results.
Kotido SS deputy head teacher Jimmy Owili told our reporter that they were yet to get results while Kaabong SS was still compiling the results at the time of filing this story. We were also not able to get results from Abim SS and Lotuke seed school in Abim district since all the known contacts of the schools administrators could not be reached by the time of filing this article.
