Legislators on the presidential affairs committee who were set to arrive in Karamoja to unearth more information about the mismanagement of relief items meant for vulnerable people in the sub-region have postponed their visit.
A team of about 35 MPs, two from Karamoja, headed by Jesca Ababiku the Ajumani woman MP, were expected to jet into the region on Sunday 12th March 2023, where they would start off their 7 day inquiries on Monday 13th, March 2023, in all the nine districts of Karamoja.
Remigio Achia, the chairperson parliamentary group however, says the postponement was due to the fact that the president is expected to address parliament on Thursday this week, forcing all other committees in parliament to hold their visits.
According to Remegio the MPs are now expected to arrive over the coming weekend before they kick off their activities next week.
Remegio says among the top issues that will be investigated include the issue of the diverted iron sheets and the process of the delivery of goats, food relief among others.
According to the first program schedule, the team would visit Karenga, Abim and Amudat on the 13th of March, followed by Kaabong, Napak and Nakapiripirit on the 14th and finally Kotido, Moroto and Nabilatuk on the 15th of March.
