Christians and residents of Lwala Catholic Parish in Kalaki district are excited over the appointment of Rev. Fr. Dominic Eibu as the new bishop of Kotido Catholic Diocese.

Last month, Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Bishop Giuseppe Filippi as bishop of Kotido catholic diocese upon reaching the mandatory age limit of 75 years and appointed Fr. Dominic Eibu as the new Bishop of the Diocese.

Over the weekend, Etoil A Karamoja radio team travelled to the bishop-elects home village in Amotot A, Kamidakan parish, Apapai Sub County in Kalaki district and spoke to the family members, friends and area residents about his appointment.

Bishop Elect’s elder brother John Michael Engwaru a retired police officer and Margret Amuge Engwaru bishop elects sister in law say his appointment came as a surprise.

Victoria Araro- Fr Eibu’s 91 years old mother, Antasia Ajibo, Mary Adeke and Yuventine Egiru Bishop Elect’s other siblings are grateful to God for his appointment saying it is a blessing to the family.

Kasimeri Ojuka the head catechist Lwala catholic parish who spoke on behalf of Rev. Fr Deogratious Tembo Okonye the parish priest, Yuventino Eucu an OB, Vincent Erwau the former teacher say that Fr. Eibu’s appointment serves as a centenary celebrations gift to Lwala parish from Pope Francis.

Born on April 30, 1970, Fr Eibu started his education at Kamidakan Primary School, Kaberamaido SS for his senior one before he was sneaked out of Teso following an insurgency to Kampala where he continued with his education.
