The Uganda People’s Defence Forces-UPDF has handed over a newly constructed shed to boda boda riders in Kotido Municipality in a move aimed to enhance their safety and improve working conditions.

Officiated by RDC Charles Ichogor and 405 Brigade Commander Lt. Col Gaston Mugarura, the project is part of a broader UPDF “Quick Impact” initiative.

Lt. Col Mugarura stated that the shelter’s primary purpose is to protect riders who initially used to park at road sides from harsh weather, providing a safe place to rest and conduct business.

In addition to the structure, the UPDF distributed 316 high-visibility reflector jackets to improve road safety for the operators.

Lt. Col Mugarura believes that the Quick impact projects will foster good working relationship between the forces and the community as well as create a safer environment for Boda boda motorcycle operators.
