Without giving exact figures, Opio said the candidates are both from Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools and Private schools.
He attributed the increase in the PLE candidature to the collective effort from all stakeholders encouraging who have continued to encourage parents and guardians to prioritize the learning of their children.
According to Opio, various district stakeholders have harnessed sensitization campaigns on education over radios and other platforms while explaining the profits of educating a child.
He appealed to parents and guardians to continue supporting and protecting their children as they prepare for their final primary school examinations and transition to secondary education.
