The LCV Chairperson of Moroto District, Anjello Pulkol, has urged voters to forget about tribes which they belong to and focus on voting leaders ready to serve their interest.
Anjello, who is seeking re-election, said that many people want leadership positions to gain prominence and wealth but not serve the interest of the voters.
He made the statement on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, during a joint campaign for Moroto District Woman Member of Parliament held at Natumkasikou parish in Rupa Sub County ahead of the party Primaries slated for Thursday, July 17, 2025.
He asked voters to use their democratic power to vote for right leaders who can spur development in their respective areas.
“Don’t let politics of tribalism derail our development. Vote for their people irrespective of which tribe they come from as long as they can work with the government to serve your interest,” Pulkol added.
Pulkol said that poverty doesn’t discriminate whether one belongs to the Matheniko, National Resistance Movement (NRM) party or opposition among others.
Meanwhile Robert Adupa, the LCIII chairperson condemned commercialization of politics, describing it as a sign of corruption that should be resisted.
“Vote for people who are development oriented and ready to serve the interest of the community, not leaders who are after their personal interests. It’s up to you to eat the money and whatever they are giving you in darkness, but I urged you to be mindful of the future”, he advised.
He told his voters that he will not bribe anyone to vote for him, but they should elect him based on his achievements.
Those who want to be bribed in exchange for their votes should wait for other candidates. As leaders we should train our people how to fish rather than giving them fish when they do not know how to get it,” Adupa urged.
Ceaser Akol Abura, one of the aspirants for Matheniko County Member of Parliament pledged to focus on youth employment, improving health, education, and extending clean water to the rural communities once elected.
“As youth, we have a problem of unemployment. As much as our president has put up socioeconomic transformation programs for us from the grassroots down, he needs us to help him, and how do we help him as the youth? We get into the structures and develop from the grassroots,” he said.
Akol noted one of the reasons why young people are facing an unemployment crisis is a lack of skills, a problem he vowed to address.
