The Senior Superintendent of Police Godfrey Achiria has assumed office as the new regional police commander Kidepo region.
Achiria who assumed office on Tuesday evening at a ceremony held at the Kidepo police regional headquarters replaces SSP Johnson Kiconco Tibbs.
Early this month SSP Achiria who was the RPC Rwenzori East region was moved to Kidepo region in the same position and switched with his counterpart SSP Kiconco
In his handover speech, SSP Kiconco expressed gratitude for the cooperation accorded to him during his tour of duty in the region, adding that the new RPC should consider teamwork with the different stakeholders in order to achieve his goals.
Kiconco says much as he leaves office at a time the region is faced with a number of challenges including insecurity, issues of office space, non-functional CCTV cameras, few personnel, among others, he managed to bring relative peace to the region in the last 8 months he has served.
In his acceptance remarks, Achiria thanked the Kidepo regional staff and the different stakeholders for the good work exhibited, adding that he will work hand in hand with other security agencies to ensure that peace prevails in the region.
Other police officers that have been moved in the new transfer wave include, the Kotido DPC Juston Tugeneyo who has been moved to Lamwo district, Karenga DPC who has been transferred to Lira east, while OCCID’S of Abim, Kotido and Kaabong have also been sent for refresher courses.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by among others the deputy RPC, the deputy resident district commissioner, District internal security officer, other high ranking police officers among others.
