Vandals in Kotido municipality have broken down a solar street lighting pole in Entebbe Area, Kotido central division stealing the solar panel and battery in the process.
The area residents told our reporter this morning that the incident happened last night.
John Lochul Lomerio a resident of Entebbe area says by last evening the pole was standing and the lights were on but he was shocked to discover this morning that the pole had been brought down and the solar panel was missing.
Gabriel Igira Apanalem an elder from Acholi Quarters says that thieves have been trying to steal the solar panel planted near his home in vain.
He is however, appealing to the security personnel to keep patrolling the area at night because thieves are taking advantage of the darkness to steal the street lights, panels and people’s property.
Jane Logiel the assistant town clerk Kotido central division says she was notified about the incident this morning by the division LCIII chairperson and she has reported it to police.
She is now appealing to the area residents to guard all the government assets in their places saying such incidents create big losses to the division and retard development.
