The joint security forces in Karamoja sub region are hunting for two criminals who reportedly attacked and beat up security informers in Napumpum trading center Kotido district.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening at around 6:00pm following a scuffle between the security informers and unarmed warriors.
Maj Isaac Oware the UPDF 3rd division public information officer confirmed the incident to our reporter saying the unarmed fight happened when the two parties fought over yet to be established reason after they allegedly got drunk.
Maj. Oware added that a security team from the UPDF 405 brigade and local authorities intervened and saved the situation. He, however, did not name the informers saying it would jeopardize their investigations.
According to Maj. Oware, one informer was injured and taken to Kotido Hospital for further medical management, while his colleague was rescued and taken to brigade headquarters in Nakapelimoru. He says the two suspects however, escaped and are still at large.
John Bosco Akore the secretary Kotido elders’ council condemned the attack describing it as a barbaric and a backward act. He appealed to the communities in Kotido to cooperate with the security organs and desist from attacking security personnel.
