Rev. Canon Simon Akol Aisu was on Sunday consecrated and enthroned as the second Bishop of Church of Uganda North Karamoja diocese.
The colorful celebration presided over by the Archbishop of Church of Uganda the Most Rev Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu was held at Christ Church cathedral, Kotido municipality.

Aisu now replaces Rt. Rev James Nasak, the Bishop Emeritus of North Karamoja diocese who clocked the mandatory retirement age of 65 years.
Rt. Rev. Prof Alfred Olwa the bishop of the diocese of Lango in his sermon encouraged the communities to embrace the gospel and unite with the government of Uganda for the development of the diocese. He also implored the new bishop, the clergy and Christians in North Karamoja to be people who walk with God and grow in their spiritual lives.
In his speech the newly consecrated bishop Rt. Rev Aisu said that he has been enthroned as bishop of the diocese at a time when Karamoja is faced with insecurity, coupled with hunger and deaths among other issues.
Aisu says during his tenure as the bishop, he will base his leadership on the theme of ‘’Peaceful united Christians for service and growth”, which according to him will promote peace and economic growth for the development of the diocese.
He says he will also tackle other issues like evangelism, health and education, among others.
The function was attended by several dignitaries including the deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa, who represented President Yoweri Museveni, ministers, Karamoja MPS, the Bishop of Kotido catholic diocese Rt. Rev Dominic Eibu and his predecessor Bishop Emeritus Giuseppe Filippi among other dignitaries.
