Primary schools in the North Karamoja districts this morning kicked off the Primary leaving examinations- PLE with no serious hurdles reported.

The second set of UNEB exams after UCE, started on Tuesday with briefing of PLE candidates across the country.

The exams kicked off with the mathematics paper while social studies and religious education will crown the day in the afternoon. The examination will end with the candidates writing integrated science in the morning and the English paper in the afternoon on Thursday.

Charles Owiny Abungwen, the Kotido diocesan education secretary, who is overseeing the exercise in diocesan schools in North Karamoja says so far, the exercise has registered positive progress with no serious challenges registered. He says the examination materials were delivered in time.

Celestine Sire, the Kaabong district inspector of schools says the exercise has been smooth compared to the previous years, when they used to have only four examination routes, adding that with the current six routes, the students were able to start exams in a timely manner.

Similarly, Magaret Auma, the Abim district inspector of schools says the district created 5 routes for the distributions of the examination materials, and no serious challenges have been registered, since the examinations started on time without any interruptions.

Calistus Longole the officer in charge of the stores where the examination materials are being kept at Kotido CPS says they are coordinating with the different stakeholders for the proper and timely distribution of the necessary materials.

A total of 749,347 candidates registered for the PLE examination across 14,442 examination centers, marking an increase from the previous year.
