Kotido district has raised the need to review and revise the memoranda of understanding-MoU’s of all partners working in the district after over 40 of them shunned the recent district budget conference.
Emmanuel Lodio the Kotido district speaker observed that out of about 47 civil society organizations working at the district less than 10 attended the Tuesday budget conference held at Caritas Children’s Hall.
Lodio noted that it is shameful for organizations to commit themselves to improving services in the district but fail to turn up for such special meetings where they could inform the district on the progress of their work.
He tasked the district officials to immediately reassess all CSO’s so that the district is informed of their operations and impact in the district.
Brian Etuko the welfare and probation officer Kotido district in response pledged to compile a report about CSO’s operations and submit to the relevant offices so that the district is able to identify the partners they will need to work with.
John Mageezi the Kotido deputy RDC however, suggested that the district creates a district NGO monitoring team and also ensure that government parastatals like NIRA, National water sewerage cooperation, UNRA attend such meetings because they are of public importance.
