The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primary elections has cancelled in more than three polling stations in Kotido Municipality over alleged irregularities.
The elections, which were held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, countrywide to elect male and female parliamentary flag bearers for the upcoming general elections, were marred by controversy in parts of Kotido Municipality.
While some polling stations like Kotido headquarters, Entebbe area, Kotido mixed had a peaceful elections, the district party leadership was forced to halt three polling stations due to confusion and disputes related to the NRM voter register.
According to reports obtained by our reporters, the affected stations including Lopedur, Lomukura in central division, and Kadokini in south division.
The elections were reportedly cancelled in these polling stations following numerous complaints from the voters who claimed their names were either missing or mismatched from the voters register.
Meanwhile in other polling stations like Loseer in Narikapet, there was low voter turnout, as only 15 out of over 100 voters in the register turned up for the exercise
Speaking to our reporter, John Paul Namuya, the Kotido district National Resistance Movement Registrar confirmed the cancellation but did not divulge further information, saying they would provide details in due course.
At the time of filling this story no official date had been set for when or if voting in the affected polling stations will be held
