The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kotido, Charles Ichogor, has issued a stern warning to contractors involved in the ongoing Shs1 billion road rehabilitation project in Kotido Municipality, cautioning against substandard work and project delays.

The warning follows complaints from residents in the Central Division regarding the quality of marram (laterite gravel) being used on the roads.

Three local contractors are currently working on opening and gravelling 22.1 kilometers of roads funded by the Shs1 billion rehabilitation project, with an additional 6 kilometers under a 300-million-shilling transitional grant.

During a site visit to the Lodipidip-Losogot-Lowoi Road, Ichogor emphasized that quality work is paramount in service delivery, especially in road construction, to ensure value for money.

Felix Cwinyaai, the Assistant Engineer, addressed concerns about the marram quality, explaining that the soil texture in Kotido Municipality necessitates the use of dead rock marram.

He stated that this type of marram has been tested and proven effective for black soils in the area.

Great Deeds Supply and Construction Company is responsible for 6.1 kilometers on the Lodipidip-Losogot- Lowoi and Lokore-Kotyeng Roads, while Symphony Investment Group Limited and Arigos Agricultural Inputs are jointly handling seven other roads under the rehabilitation grant.
