Armed security forces in North Karamoja have been urged to step up security in the region.
The call was made by monsignor Daniel Nabuya the vicar general of Kotido catholic diocese on Sunday at the good Shepard cathedral as police officers animated mass.
Monsignor Nabuya observed that there is need for security personnel to be beefed up in different areas especially in the mushrooming centers across the district and region
In his summon Monsignor Nabuya , also the administrator of good shepherd cathedral said much as they are trying to enhance the spiritual growth of Christians, there is need for security agencies to also do their work and improve the security
He further encouraged the police to emulate the works of Christ by being the bread of life as they execute their duties in different communities, further imploring them to renew themselves through repentance.
Responding to the Vicar Generals call, the Regional Police Commander for Kidepo SSP Godfrey Achiria attributed the acts of insecurity in Kotido to drug abuse and alcoholism, noting that the issues are in most cases caused by the youth who sometimes cause panic at night.
Achiria says they are now going to team up with the community, to ensure the criminals are apprehended and charged in the courts of law
