Karamoja diocese has said they have secured 287 million required to facilitate the consecration and installation of the new Bishop Rev Ven. Michael Chorey

Rev Ven. Michael Chorey was in July last month, elected by the House of Bishops as the 5th Bishop of the Diocese of Karamoja, replacing Rt. Rev. Joseph Abura who is set to retire on the 28th of august when he clocks 65 years of mandatory retirement age as stipulated by the Church of Uganda constitution.

Speaking to Etoil A Karamoja, the Karamoja diocesan secretary Rev Capt, Simon Peter Loduk revealed that preparations are currently in high gear as they have not yet put in place all the necessary resources to ensure the event is colorful.

He says out of the 287 million secured 142 million will go to provincial quarter, which is obligated by the diocese to pay, while the rest of the funds will be to cater for the consecration activities

Loduk says they have put in place a total of 15 committees to oversee the preparations, further noting that they expect about 3,000 guests both nationally and internationally to grace the occasion

Loduk says the guests will start arriving by the 19th August, and the consecration service will take place at the Moroto boma grounds, with its reception hosted by hotel leslona

He is now rallying Christians to be part of the event as they welcome the new bishop.
