Abim: Residents of Abim district have welcomed the appointment of Maj. Gen Charles Okidi commonly known as Faraday as the new UPDF Air force commander with excitement.
On Monday evening president Museveni announced mini changes in the military promoting Okidi who hails from Abim district from the rank of Major General to Lieutenant General.
Describing him as a very hard working and disciplined person, a number of residents who poured in congratulatory messages to the general through different social media pages said his appointment was well deserved.

Rose Akullo from Morulem Sub County in Abim district another resident and an O.G to Okidi hopes that he will influence some policies that will benefit the people of Karamoja.

Calvin Okello another resident from Kanu Sub County described Gen. Okidi’s appointment as a great milestone worth celebrating. He says it’s a good achievement for the Ethur people and Karamoja at large. Cue//: Okello eng/luo:
Lt. Gen. Okidi previously served as the Director Operations at the Air Force headquarters in Entebbe. He also served as Nakasongola Air force wing commander, Entebbe Air force wing commander, Squadron commander and Officer Commanding Operations at Entebbe Air force wing. In March this year, the president moved Gen Okidi from the position of air force Chief of Staff which he had taken over in 2019 to deputy commander of the UPDAF.
