Silas Asiimire, Mobile Money float distributor who was robbed of Shs17 million (Police)

Police in Kaabong District are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred on Monday, September 7, 2026, where a group of suspected thugs believed to be the Dodoth intercepted a businessman and robbed him of Shs17 million.

Silas Asiimire, aged 25 a resident of Kaabong Town Council and a MTN Mobile Money float agent attached to Tiffan and Family Company Ltd was intercepted by three suspected thugs at around 2:00 p.m at Kathile Bridge, between Kathile and Kamacharikol Trading Centre, along Kaabong-Karenga Road.

Kalisto Narucha, the Kidepo Regional Community Liaison Officer confirmed the incident, saying that the victim who was riding motorcycle Reg. No. UFP 091X, Bajaj Boxer, red in colour was traveling from Kaabong to Kathile Town Council to distribute MTN Mobile Money float, when the suspects armed with bows and arrows intercepted him.

He said that according to the victim, the suspects reportedly tied his face with clothes and robbed him of cash amounting to Shs17 million, and two smartphones.

Narucha added, after robbing Asiimire, the suspects reportedly fled to an unknown direction, leaving him on the road with the motorcycle.

Narucha stated after the incident, the victim rang police of Kathile Town Council Police station who together with the UPDF soldiers from Kathile Detach swiftly responded, visited and documented the crime scene.

The joint security force, according to Narucha, recorded the statement from the victim.

Narucha observed that though no arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing and efforts to track down the suspects are underway.
