The inauguration ceremony of His Highness Rwot Mathias Okello Ngolryeko Aryon IV as the cultural leader of Ethur Community is underway.
The ceremony which marks a significant milestone for the Ethur community , commenced last night at 11:00Pm with rituals performed by the council of elders at his residence situated in Agwata Ward, Abim district.
David Adinga, the administrative secretary of the Thur Kingdom, says that the cultural leader will be unveiled to the subjects this afternoon at 2:00Pm where he will deliver his first address.
He explains that through the installation of Ethur cultural leader, they would be able to show the world what the Thur Kingdom is all about.
The installation of Rwot Mathias Okello Ngolryeko Aryon IV, as the next Ethur cultural leader comes three days after a section of Ethur elders distanced themselves from the installation ceremony, citing lack of consultation in the process.
Thur Kingdom was founded way back in 1850 under the stewardship of one Ebalkol who was layer succeeded by his son Aryon Lobaramoe I.
Since then successive successions transpired until the year 1973 when the 3rd last King died and the Kingdom remained without a traditional monarch.
Though Thur Kingdom is said to have existed for decades, in Uganda there are only four recongnised Kingdoms.
These Kingdoms include Toro, Bunyoror, Buganda and Busoga while others are recongnised by the Constitution of Uganda as Cultural Institutions.
