“A few days ago, somebody was shot by people suspected to be warriors. I know they are warriors because no other person is illegally carrying a weapon. The security forces are on the ground”, Adiama said.

He added that “there was another person who was found hanging. We are also following up on the death of that person. It looks like he may have been killed and we shall get them. The good thing is, they are not going to heaven. Since they are on Earth”.

ABIM:Two people have been killed in Abim district following two separate murder incidents that occurred in a space of three days, a situation that has left security struggling to make arrests or recover firearms.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, a decomposing body of Francis Oyugi, aged 47, a resident of Dicpe village, Apaa Koya Parish, in Magamaga sub-county, was found hanging on a tree.

It is alleged that on Thursday, July 2, the deceased left his home at about 8:00 a.m and went to Koya Trading Centre, where he sat with some people until 2:00 p.m before proceeding to his garden in Apaa at around 7:00 p.m.

However, in a catastrophic turn of events, his body was discovered on Saturday, July 4, 2026, by John Bosco Achilla, dangling from one of the trees in his garden with a rope around his neck.

Achilla then reported the incident to Alerek Police Station, and crime detectives visited the scene and recorded statements from the deceased’s relatives before his body was retrieved for postmortem.

In a separate incident, Peter Okello, aged 47 a resident of Ating North Cell, Oringowelo Ward in Abim Town Council was shot dead by a group of unidentified gunmen Saturday night, July 5, 2026 at the home of Alfred Aballa, 47-years-old a resident of the same village.

According to Aballa, the assailants armed with an AK 47 rifle, bows and arrows attacked him, his wife Caroline Acheng and the deceased inside his shop and demanded money.

He added that when he refused to give them money, the attackers then fired a bullet at Peter Okello, killing him instantly and snatched a mobile phone valued at 90,000 belonging to his wife Caroline Acheng.

Police officers led by OC Station Abim Central Police Station ASP Moses Tabu and Deputy CIDO ASP Peter Ouma Junior visited the scene with a K9 dog.

However their efforts to trace the assailants were futile due to rain drizzles after the incident and a compromised crime scene.

Robert Adiama, the Abim Resident District Commissioner who also doubles as the chairperson of the District Security Committee told this publication that preliminary police investigations reveal the deceased may have been killed by yet-to-be-identified individuals who subsequently hanged him on a tree.

He disclosed that the investigations in the two murder incidents are underway, assuring the public that the culprits will be brought to book.
