KOTIDO: At least 814 candidates are sitting for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Kotido district with half of the number being girls.
In Kotido Municipality alone, there are 440 candidates, with 219 of them being girls, sitting at the eight examination centers.
The distribution of examination papers started at 7:15 am in Kotido district while in the Municipality, distribution began at 7:45 am.
The candidates started writing their first mathematics paper at exactly 9:00 a.m, a standard time set by Uganda National Examination Board.
While addressing scouts and invigilators at Kotido Central Police Station, Emmanuel Owili Chief monitor, in charge of Kotido district warned about the dangers of examination malpractice as they conduct the examinations.
He reminded them that aiding or negligently allowing cheating is punishable under the UNEB Act, CAP 259, which provides for fines of up to Shs2 million or imprisonment of 12 months, or both upon conviction.

“We call upon all stakeholders to seriously consider the security of the examinations and carry out their roles accordingly,” remarked Owili.
