UNEB: A 17-year-old at Acherer Primary School in Moroto district on Monday gave birth to a bouncing baby boy weighing 3kgs during her first Primary leaving Examination (PLE) mathematics paper.

Teddy Flavia Awili, the head teacher said that the candidate whose name has been withheld gave birth at Acherer Health Center II.

She told this publication that the candidate was rushed to the health facility at around 6:00 am, after she began experiencing labor pains, marking her journey toward motherhood.

According to Awili at 9:00 am, the candidate started writing her examination which was administered at the facility until around 9: 35 am when the labor pains intensified and she gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 10:00 am.

She said the examinations in her school started smoothly with all the 27 registered candidates turning up for PLE, marking their last exams for primary education cycle.

Susan Lowal, the enrolled midwife at Acherer Health Center II, said “the mother delivered normally, and both her and the baby are in good health”.

She explained that the mother will continue writing her examination at the health facility as they continue monitoring her condition before she is charged.
