The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Election and Disputes Tribunal has adjourned the hearing of the election petition in which Moses Bildad Adome, is challenging the victory of Kotido Municipality MP Ismail Lomwar Mohammed in the recent party primaries.

Adome’s petition, which had been scheduled for a hearing on Sunday, was postponed under unclear circumstances.

On July 18, John Paul Namuya, the NRM district election officer of Kotido district declared Lomwar the winner of the hotly contested race after polling 8,518 votes against Adome’s 5,939 votes.

However, Adome rejected the results and petitioned the party’s tribunal to annul Lomwar’s victory as the party’s flag bearer for 2026 general elections, citing electoral fraud and other irregularities.

Among the irregularities include; intimidation of voters, missing names of eligible voters, alteration of results, tampering of the voters’ register, voter bribery, and leaked declaration forms with identical serial numbers particularly in the north and west divisions.

However, Namuya, recently denied allegations of leaked declaration forms prior to the election day, stating that all the declaration forms were stamped using the official NRM seal, as agreed by the election stakeholders.

With the hearing of 381 petitions filed by NRM aspirants who were dissatisfied with the outcome of the NRM primaries held on the 17th of July, ending on Monday August 4, it remains to be seen whether the tribunal will announce the date when Adome’s petition will be heard.
