The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is facing uncertainty as the party’s Election and Disputes Tribunal, headed by John Musiime, seeks to review the results of the parliamentary primaries for Karenga district.
Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman told Etoil A Karamoja on Monday that the commission had received a formal request from the party’s tribunal on Saturday, asking to review the election results.
Without revealing who among the candidates went to the tribunal to seek review of the election results, Odoi said that the commission is in consultation with the Tribunal to determine whether or not to announce the results.
Odoi stated that announcing the results while the matter is before the tribunal could jeopardize the process, making it a dilemma for the Commission.
According to Odoi, vote tallying of Karenga parliamentary flag bearers was supervised by Commissioner, James Tweheyo.
On Saturday, the commission tallied votes for Woman MP Aspirants, Rose Lilly Akello and Doreen Loe Imen, in the two contested Sub Counties of Lobangit and Kakwanga, but did not declare the results.
Meanwhile, the state Minister for Ethics and Integrity Rose Lilly Akello and Doreen Loe Imen, stated that they were waiting for an appointment with the commission for the declaration of the results.
On Friday, the Commission completed tallying the votes for Napore West Constituency but has yet to declare these results, with four polling stations under review.
Vote counting for Dodoth West Constituency was supposed to begin on Saturday but was postponed to allow the commissioners to fulfill other official duties.
