Several clubs are grappling with the fear of relegation as the North East Regional Football Association (NERFA) 2024-2025 season approaches its climax on over the weekend.

Teams with low point tallies are precariously positioned, needing to secure a spot in the top five of their respective groups to avoid demotion.

Clubs in the Kyoga group currently facing this anxiety include Soroti City Thunders FC, Rupa United FC, Ojama White City FC, Tita Sporting Club, and Agape United FC.

In the Bisina group, Odwarat FC, Koena Leopards FC, Tepa FC, Ateker FC, and Otuboi FC are in a similar predicament.

Any club finishing below seventh place in the NERFA standings will be relegated to the fourth division league for the 2025-2026 season.

Next season, the North East Regional League will undergo a significant restructuring, transitioning to a single league table comprising only 12 football clubs, following FUFA’s introduction of the sixth division league, which is set to commence next season.
