Kotido Secondary School authorities have moved to block students with outstanding debts from accessing their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results electronically once they are released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

Emmanuel Lokedi, the head teacher of Kotido SS, while speaking to our reporter on Monday from his office, explained that the decision follows the accumulated debts of UCE students who sat for their exams in 2024, totaling 32 million Uganda shillings.
In 2024, Kotido SS registered 194 candidates under the new curriculum and 73 candidates under the old curriculum. Lokedi explained that the school had decided to allow the students to sit their exams and pay the fees later, enabling them to access their results for the continuation of their studies.

Lokedi confirmed that the school has contacted UNEB and instructed them to block students from Kotido SS from accessing their results electronically until they pay the outstanding debts.

For those who are sponsored by other organizations or have cleared their balances, Lokedi added, they will be able to access their results once they obtain clearance from the bursar.

Lokedi also mentioned that the school is currently operating under limited resources after spending a significant amount on materials and reagents for the third-term examinations.

This has forced the school to limit some of its activities. He further stated that the authorities are working on ways to ensure the collection of all outstanding debts for the smooth operation of the school, appealing to parents to pay their debts to avoid inconveniencing their children.

Comment from Lokedi

UNEB has confirmed that the results are set to be released tomorrow, Tuesday, February 12, 2025, at State House Nakasero.
