A section of residents in Kotido Municipality has shared expectations and priorities they want President Museveni to address during his seventh term of office.

President Museveni was sworn-in on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in a colorful ceremony, which attracted several high-level dignitaries, with at least 15 Heads of State in attendance alongside regional and international representatives.

As he starts his new term running under the slogan “Kisanja no more sleep”, Museveni will oversee the implementation of Shs83.4 trillion for the 2026/2027 budget.

Speaking to Etoil A Karamoja, last evening after the presidential swearing-in, Moses Achilla a resident of Kotido mix ward, said the new term should serve as turning point in restoring public confidence and ensure that national resources benefit ordinary citizens rather than the privileged class.

He urged the president to focus on improving health service delivery and road infrastructure in his next term.

Simon Lokure, one of the a boda-boda riders in Kotido town said the president should fulfill his pledge of tarmacking major roads connecting Kotido to other districts in Karamoja in order to spur development.

Lokure is optimistic that this will enable farmers transport their produce to the outside markets thus enhancing their household incomes.

Paul Achau, the former LC1 Chairperson Narikapet Ward echoed similar sentiments, calling on government to put more emphasises on the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the district.

Janet Moding, the councilor representing Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in North Division, applauded the NRM government for ensuring inclusivity in government programmes aimed at alleviating people out of poverty such as PDM.

She however, called on the president to find a lasting solution to the insecurity in the district and Karamoja as a region, where renewed insecurity has caused fear among locals.
