Kotido Municipal Council has registered a delay in laying its draft budget before Council due to late submission of the budget details by Heads of Department.

According to the Local Government Act and the Budget Cycle, all Local Governments should lay draft budgets before council by 31 March but this is not the case with Kotido Municipality.

Two weeks past the deadline, the budget is still being prepared by the Municipal Planner, Aaron Lokwang.

Etoil A Karamoja Radio has established that some departments are yet to furnish the planner with details about their work plans and activities to be implemented.

According to the Speaker Kotido Municipal Council, Vicky Akello the delay is being handled as an emergency and Council is expected to sit early next week.

The Deputy Town Clerk, Christopher Lotuk confirms that the draft budget is in its final stage of preparation.

He added that the draft budget will now capture the supplementaries notably in the audit section and works department where the ministry of finance has guided all 174 local government to review their draft budgets as per the additional central government funding to audit department.
