The facility currently lacks a general ward forcing Postpartum mothers to share the maternity ward with expectant mothers since the postnatal ward was given out to the out patients ward.

The health center usually receives patients from Loyoro, Kakamar, Sidok and other nearby places.

Kerine Nakong the health center in charge while speaking to our reporter during his visit to the facility said that the situation is sometimes embarrassing especially in cases where they register many deliveries.

According to Nakong this is not convenient for both the mothers and the new born babies because it puts their lives at the risk of contracting other diseases.

She is now drumming for support from both the district health offices and NGO’s handling health related issues so that the crisis is solved.

Joseph Lokor, the LCV councilor Sidok sub county says that they have notified the district about the situation and they are waiting for their response.

He however, also appeals to the NGO’s and other stakeholders to consider rescuing the health center, adding that the plight has forced new mothers to be discharged early due to lack of space.
