The money was channeled to the 58 parishes in the 13 Sub Counties and 2 town Councils of the district, pending identification of another set of beneficiaries for the third quarter of the FY, 2024/2025.

The development was confirmed recently by the Commercial Officer, Francis Obita during celebrations to mark Tarehe Sita.

Comment from Obita Francis

Although Kotido district has received additional monies for PDM, it has only disbursed 86% of PDM funds. A total of 1.6 billion shillings is yet to be channeled to 1, 641 beneficiaries.

Obita said they have not attained 100% disbursement due to a number of reasons including poor network across the district, low literacy level among PDM SACCO leaders, and low staffing of parish chiefs.  However, Kotido has since the FY 2021/2022 to date disbursed revolving funds amounting to 10.38 billion shillings of a total capitation grant of 12.03 billion.

Meanwhile the Kotido Resident District Commissioner, Charles Ichogor has directed that Kotido District should by 16 February disburse up to 100%.

In a related development, the ministry Finance on February 5 released 950 million under PDM to the SACO groups in Kotido Municipal Council.

The Town Clerk Emmanuel Okaja told Etoil A Karamoja they had disbursed up to 100 adding they would embark on identifying with immediate effect the new beneficiaries for the recent release.
