Panyangara Catholic Parish under Kotido Catholic Diocese on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, celebrated Women’s Day, with a call on women to emulate Mary, the mother of God, as a model of faith, resilience, and virtue amid family challenges.

The celebrations themed “Scaling up Investments to Accelerate Access to Justice for All Women and Girls” brought together lay women from different chapels under Panyangara parish.

In his sermon, Fr. Denis Wanjala, the Parish Priest of Panyangara parish, told the celebrants to emulate the works of Mother Mary as a right approach in challenges being encountered today in many families.

Dr. Wanjala expressed concern that most Catholic mothers have gone against the rule of God of what Mother Mary did in the Bible by not imposing the real morals on their children.

“Mother Mary raised Jesus Christ with good morals amidst so many challenges, but she had never forsaken any possible challenges she faced. So dear mothers, do not give up,” Rev. Fr. Wanjala said.

The man of God encouraged women to always reflect on Mother Mary and relate to their own experiences in life to avoid committing sin.

He also urged the women to always teach their children to know God and also survive without the absences of them, as Mother Mary in the Bible did.
