The newly appointed principal judge Jane Frances Abodo has urged the general public to raise their complaints against judges to the inspector of courts.

She explained that the public shouldn’t die in silence if they have any issues with judicial officers as they seek Justice, adding that the feedback from the public will, among others, also help improve operations of court country.

Justice Abodo was speaking ahead of the second national court open day slated to take place next week on Monday at Kololo Independence ground under the theme “Enhancing Judicial Accountability and Access to Justice”.

The them according to Justice Abodo, underscores our belief that Justin must be accessible, understandable, and responsive. 

Among the activities lineup for the day as reported by Daily Monitor will include; sensitization on different court processes, demonstration of court processes, giving feedback on court reviews in various parts of the country, interacting with different justice actors, exhibition by the Judiciary and different different justice institutions. 

This for this reason Justice Abodo is calling on all Ugandans, court users, civil society, business community to join national court open day at Kololo Independence ground and raise their complaints against the Judiciary and other judicial institutions.

She explained that citizen voices sharpen judicial reforms, while their participation helps to strengthen Judiciary commitment to the justice system that truly belongs to the people, as reported by Daily Monitor.

Perceived bias, access to justice and accountability were among the complaints raised by the public during the first national court open day, held in 2024.

Supplementing the complaints that the public brought forward against the judicial officers during last year’s national Open day, Acting Chief Registrar Pamela Ocaya Lamunu, said they listed perceived corruption, delayed disposal of cases, and lost records of proceedings, among others.
