The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, has called for an end to barbarism acts revenge killings and cattle raids among  the communities in Karamoja Sub-region.

Addressing hundreds of Christians at Christ Church Cathedral Kotido on Tuesday during his farewell pastoral visit to North Karamoja Diocese, Kaziimba warned that such actions continue to cause misery in the region and neighbouring districts.

Archbishop Kaziimba, emphasised the need for communities and leaders to embrace peace, dialogue, and reconciliation to avoid descending back to insecurity, which had plagued the region for decades.

He urged the people of the Karamoja sub-region to embrace a shared responsibility among leaders and locals in building a peaceful and prosperous society.

Archbishop Kazimba, who has served as the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda since 2020, is set to retire in August 2027. 

As part of his retirement programme, he is conducting farewell pastoral visits to dioceses across the country to thank Christians for their support during his tenure.

The Archbishop on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, concluded his farewell pastoral visit to Karamoja Sub-region in Karamoja Diocese.

During his visit to Karamoja Diocese, Kaziimba called on the Christians, Religious and Political leaders from Karamoja to support the destitute during this time, where a half million people in the region are experiencing acute food insecurity.
