Agago district has emerged as the overall winner of the recently concluded National Kids Athletics and Special Needs Education (SNE) Championship 2025, for the second consecutive year.
The National Kids Athletics and SNE Championship held at Kigezi High School in Kabale between 4 and 11 May, 2025, attracted 169 teams from districts, municipalities and Cities.
According to the rankings released on Saturday by Uganda Primary Schools Sports Association (UPSSA), Agago district is ranked number one with 47,381 points followed by Terego district with 45,176 points and Amolatar district with 40,943 points.
Other districts ranked among the top ten include, Yumbe, Busia, Adjumani, Kiryandongo, Kiryandongo, Ssembabule, Kyenjojo, and Amuru.
Busia District and Agago District topped the physically impaired U-12 and U-14 categories, respectively.
In the Special Needs Education (SNE) categories, Pader District emerged as the overall winner, dominating in the hearing impairment categories.
Mukono District claimed top honors in the visually impaired categories for both the U-12 and U-14 age groups.
In the mainstream competition, Arua City stood out in the U-12 category, winning both the girls’ title and the overall trophy while Koboko Municipality took the U-12 boys’ title.
In the U-14 group, Pader District claimed the boys’ title, while Agago District secured victory in the girls’ division.
Terego District was crowned overall winner in the U-14 category.
Meanwhile the districts of Kotido, Bugiri, Nakaseke, Bunyangabu, Makindye, and Ssabagabo Municipality are the worst performing districts and Municipalities.
They are tied in position 163 after failing to register a singled point in the competition.
Others include, Nansana Municipality, Lyantonde, Maracha, and Sironko.
