In a statement released on Friday by Major General Felix Kulayigye, the Director of Defence Public Information, the recruitment exercise which begins on Monday, July 7, and concludes on Friday, July 11 will be done online.

“Regular recruits must be between 18-22 years old and possess a minimum qualification of the Uganda Certificate of Education”, the statement reads in part.

Those intending to join the force as professionals must have qualifications in fields such as software engineering, computer science, engineering, and IT, and be aged between 25 and 30 years.

Grade five teachers, senior six leavers and Air Force recruits will undergo a centralized recruitment exercise at Kololo Airstrip on dates that have yet to be communicated.

With just a day until the start of the recruitment exercise, Maj. Oware urges prospective recruits to be cautious of scammers who extort money from the public under the guise of helping them join the force.

He cited incidents where unscrupulous individual extorted millions of money from people during the previous recruitment exercises claiming to be serving on interests of UPDF.

According to Maj. Oware, UPDF does not ask people to pay any money to join because the recruitment process is always free, public and not done through the back doors, urging on the public to report whoever will call or send messages asking for money for their relatives to be recruited.

He highlighted that the recruitment will be conducted using the population figures of each District/City of Uganda based on data from Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), June 2024, that forms the basis of recruitment quotas.

Please visit the UPDF portal at recruitment.updf.go.ug for more information on recruitment details.
