The UPDF 3rd Division football team has been knocked out of the ongoing 16th edition of the Chief of Defense Force-CDF cup tournament.

The team was knocked out by the Special Force Command-SFC football team in the quarter-final game played today Tuesday.
Michael Odong the head coach 3rd Division football team confirmed the development saying the 3rd Infantry Division Netball team was equally eliminated from the tournament by Military Police Netball team.
Odong commended his players for exhibiting good performance in this year’s games compared to the 15th edition where they were eliminated at the group stages. Odong is optimistic that his team will get back stronger in the next year’s competition.
According to Odong the team will now turn their focus on the ongoing Moroto Uhuru cup tournament and the North Eastern regional league games scheduled for Friday the 18th October 2024.

The 3rd Infantry Division was drawn in Group D alongside Air Force, Armoured Brigade, Jinja Cantonment, and Chieftaincy of Defence Intelligence and Security.
The two-week tournament, is being hosted by UPDF’s Mountain Division in Fort portal City featuring over 19 formations and units competing in football and netball.
The event will conclude on the 27 September 2024, with the Chief of Defense Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, expected to attend the closing ceremony.
