The Chief Administrative Officer-CAO of Kotido district, Donato Oola, has issued a stern warning to public officers, banning them from participating in the NRM party activities with the exception of only voting.

According to Oola, numerous complaints have been received from the public regarding civil servants actively engaging in party elections by offering themselves for elections, contrary to the provisions of the public standing orders.

Oola emphasised the importance of maintaining political neutrality and upholding the standards of the civil service.

He said this aligns with the guidelines established by the Civil Service Commission, which reminds government employees to avoid partisan political activities.

“Though civil servants are entitled to their own political views and the right to vote, they are not allowed to publicly support a party, candidate, or policy, or involve themselves in political controversies”, Oola warned.
