Police in Kotido have issued a strong warning against any attempts to disrupt the upcoming NRM party structure elections, particularly targeting politicians and members suspected of planning violence.

This caution comes as Kotido Municipality prepares to hold its NRM elections on Wednesday, after the postponement of the exercise on Monday over alleged violence, voter bribery, and vote-buying by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi.

Kotido District Police Commander (DPC), Hassan Ssekalema, revealed that police intelligence indicates certain NRM party members are actively planning to disorganize the rescheduled elections.

The NRM party elections in Kotido have threatened to divide the party membership as members are divided into rival camps supported by different candidates.

Innocent Loila, a member of the NRM youth structure for Kotido Central Division, has raised concerns about the division of the party based on rival camps.

As Wednesday’s election approaches, authorities are on high alert, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring a peaceful and fair electoral process.
