Police in Kotido District have submitted blood stain clothes stained with blood recovered as evidence in the murder of Kalips Ogong, popularly known as Okolej to police forensic headquarters in Wandegeya, Kampala for analysis.

The clothes were recovered from one of the four suspects who were arrested between August 26, 2025 and September 1, 2025, to help the police with the investigations.

SP Hassan Hussein Ssekalema, the District Police Commander (DPC) of Kotido said that the exhibits were on Saturday taken for forensic analysis, following a directive by the Resident State Attorney (RSA) to have them analyzed and authenticated.

He said they will include the expert opinion from the analysts to the file of the suspects before submitting it to the Resident State Attorney.

SP Ssekalema said that police had earlier on sent the case file to the Resident State Attorney for perusal, and advice and possible sanction, but it was returned with advice that police authenticate the evidence.

According to him, of the four suspects two were released on bond last week after police failed to gather sufficient evidence linking them to Ogong’s killing.

In response to concerns over protracted detention of the remaining suspects without being produced in court or released, SP Ssekalema, explained that their expanded detention is due to threats from the public to lynch them once they are released.
