The Kotido District NRM party Registrar, John Paul Namuya, has urged the registrars uphold highest standard of integrity and impartiality during the primary elections.
According to Namuya, registrars play a critical role in ensuring the smooth conduct of elections, and their actions must reflect the principles of fairness, impartiality, and transparency.
While briefing 19 sub-county and division registrars on Wednesday, July 16,2025, in preparation for Thursday, July 17,2025, parliamentary elections, Namuya warned them against associating with the candidates in order to ensure a credible elections.
He said that the elections will starts at 9:00 AM, with roll call of voters register across all polling stations in the district while the election will conducted between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, by lining behind the candidates.
Namuya noted that the district has 387 polling stations with 79,877 registered voters, while the Municipality has 108 polling stations with a total of 25,045 registered voters.
According to Namuya, his office received election materials, among which include; party village registers, declaration forms, writing materials, and aprons for all the 433 villages in Kotido District and Municipality from the party’s electoral commission.
He added that the elections for parliamentary flag bearers will begin at 9:00 am with a roll call while the election exercise will take place from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm according to the party’s guidelines given to the registrars.
The contest for Kotido Municipality flag bearer is between the incumbent Member of Parliament Ismail Muhammad Lomwar and Moses Bildard Adome.
In Jie County, the incumbent Peter Abrahams Lokii, is facing stiff competition from Dr. Paul Lochap, the Kotido district NRM party Chairman, and Achia Gabriel Lokiru Aapabeeye.
While the battle for flag bearer for the position Kotido Woman Member of Parliament is between the incumbent Margaret Aleper Achilla, and Kotido LCV Vice Chairperson, Nuria Ashraf Teko.
