Nakapelimoru Army Secondary School in Kotido District is in dire need of Shs51 million to complete the construction of a girls’ dormitory with a capacity to accommodate 200 students.

The construction woks which began earlier this year, have stalled at the roofing level due to lack of resources.

According to the school authorities, the construction works are estimated to cost the school over Shs81 million.

In an effort to raise much-needed funds, the school authorities held a mini fundraising on Saturday July 5, 2025, however the event had a disappointing turnout, especially from politicians, who boycotted it.

During the fundraising, only Shs655, 000 in cash, 58 bags of cement, and Shs5, 650,000 in pledges were raised towards the completion of the dormitory.

While reading the construction report to the parents, David Ngobi, the head teacher, revealed that they have so far spent Shs11.7 million to raise the block to the roofing level.

He noted that an additional Shs51 million is needed to complete the construction.

Ngobi added that the school is grappling with infrastructural challenges, including classrooms, a library, a computer laboratory, and latrines.

Speaking to Radio Etoil A Karamoja on phone, on Monday July 7, 2025, Amos Kule, the Director of Studies and Public Relations Officer expressed dismay over politicians’ decision to shun the fundraising despite receiving invitations.

He claimed that they had invited political leaders, religious leaders, parents and guardians unfortunately most of them did not show up as expected, except only one whom he declined to disclose.

Kule urged parents and leaders to support the school’s development for the benefit of their children, who are the future leaders.
