The staff quarters in Loyoro Sub County, built in 2015, now stand abandoned, a stark reminder of the ongoing insecurity that affects the region. Initially intended to house key officials, the facility remains unoccupied due to its vulnerable location at the foot of Karapanyang Hills, which is known to be a hideout for armed cattle thieves.

Staff members have consistently voiced concerns about the lack of necessities such as electricity and adequate security features like proper glass windows. The facility’s isolation, with the nearest homestead being 4 kilometers away, leaves the staff exposed to potential threats, particularly from local criminals who are known to frequent the area.
An anonymous sub-county staff member, who wished not to speak publicly, expressed their fear, stating that working in such an environment was a risk they could not afford to take.
Lokanayona Parish Councilor Samali Marko Chumamoe, shared similar sentiments, warning that the warriors hiding in the nearby hills could easily target the staff at the quarters.
Loyoro Sub County Chairperson John Bosco Lorot Lokiru expressed hope for the future, noting that while there is a temporary lull in insecurity, efforts are underway to renovate the facility.
