The central government has boosted Kotido district with Sh2.2 billion wage bill for mass staff recruitment in the financial year 2025, to fill critical vacant positions in a move to enhance service delivery.

The this was confirmed to this website by the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (ADCAO) Daniel Lochoro, during an interview with our reporter in his office recently.

He said that the new wage bill will facilitate the recruitment of heads of department and essential medical staff such as a gynecologist and several medical officers in a move to bolster service delivery in the health sector.

Kotido District is currently has only three substantive heads of department. Among the departments with substantive personnel are, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Deputy CAO, District Health Officer (DHO), and Chief Finance Officer (CFO) while all other departments are acting with the newly created administrative units being the most affected.

Lokitelaebu Town Council, Kacheri Town Council, and the sub-counties of Kanair, Maaru, Lokwakial, Napumpum, Kamor, Loletio, and Kapeeta are among the new administrative units currently grappling with lack of heads of departments.

Lochoro added that “the district plans to recruit 47 teachers, six community development officer and parish chiefs among others”.

“This forthcoming recruitment will help raise the staffing level to about 60 percent, which will directly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of public service delivery in a district that has long struggled low staffing gaps”, said Lochoro.

He further revealed that the recruitment process will begin immediately, starting with the advertisement of the available positions.

The recruitment exercise due to start this year, according to Lochoro, will conclude in June 2026.

Lochoro optimism that the planned recruitment will fill these gaps and mark a turning point in Kotido’s service delivery.
