The Kotido district service commission chairperson has cautioned Job seekers in the district against paying bribes to the district officials during the ongoing recruitment exercise.
In April this year, the district, together with the municipality advertised for a number of positions to fill in the available vacancies on replacement basis. The positions include driver, planner, commercial officer, assistant water officer, among others
Now in an exclusive interview with our reporter in his office Paul Darlington Lomanio, the Kotido district service commission chairperson said they have so far registered a fair turn up of applicants with the position of potter being the most applied for, receiving over 70 applicants followed by medical officers.
Lomanio says they have already started shortlisting the candidates for different positions, an exercise he says will take three days before they can display the names on Monday next week for viewing.
He says after the shortlist, applicants will be given two weeks to prepare for interviews and other activities will follow subsequently
Lomanio is however cautioning those planning to bribe the district service commission members against taking such risks, further threatening to have them disqualified as provided for in the law.
District service commissions across the country have often come under negative criticism for their alleged involvement in corruption scandals especially during local government recruitment exercises.
In February this year, the Inspector General of Government Beti Kamya revealed that her office had started a country wide research and probe in to the district service commissions to curb high flying reports of job sales.
In 2023, President Yoweri Museveni while speaking at Kakeeka playground in Kakumiro District at celebrations to mark the 37th NRM/NRA Victory anniversary asked DISO’s and Police’s CID to help stamp out corruption else face his wrath.
