The Jie students and teachers’ association- JIESTA in Kotido district has elected its new leadership. This was in an election held at Kotido youth centre, Kotido municipality on Wednesday. The mode of the election was by voters lining up behind their favourite candidates.

The election that was presided over by Ivan Igira Apapuwa drew students from all the 19 sub counties of Kotido district.

During the election Mario Mark Logwang a student from KIU was elected the JIESTA chairperson after garnering 392 votes defeating his closest challenger Simon Peter Achia who got 73 votes.

Peter Pex Lomise was elected speaker after garnering 288 votes beating John Achia Naido who came second with 32 votes and Thomas Lokut who came last with 27 votes.

Emmanuel Lodio the Kotido district speaker was elected general secretary after getting 247 votes defeating John Mark Pulkol who scored 60 votes.

In other positions Daniel Moding now heads Finance, after garnering 293 votes beating Joseph Namuya who got 285 votes while Ibrahim Lokiru was elected secretary publicity after getting 245 votes beating John Bosco Longom who got 15 votes.

Those who went unopposed include: Paska Joyce Lochiam as vice chairperson, Alex Chilla Tachman as tradition and culture officer, Simon Peter Kiyonga as games and sports officer and Andrew Lokoru as a mobilizer.

Ivan Igira Apapuwa the JIESTA electoral commission chairperson told our reporter that the election was a success.
