Police in Napak district have launched investigations into a violent confrontation that left four civilians and several police officers injured in Kangole Town Council.
Mike Longole, the Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said the incident happened on Friday July 11, 2025 at around 11:00 PM when police officers on patrol approached a group of people who were playing loud music and campaigning in the area.
He noted that the aim of ending the event was for the security purposes but the crowd ignored the order and instead started attacking the officers.
“The violence erupted when the officers ordered the crowds to disperse and stop the music since it was past time, however the crowd turned rowdy and started pelting the police officers with stones injuring several of them,” Longole added.
According to Longole, the police in self-defense fired live bullets on the air in an attempt to disperse the crowd.
Longole noted that in the process, four civilians identified as Elijah Akol, Paul Losike, Simon Ilukol, and Badu all residents of Kangole town council were injured by stray bullets.
He added that both the civilians and the police officers who were also injured during the confrontation were rushed to Kangole Health Centre III for treatment.
Longole explained that the investigations into the incident are underway and those responsible will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
