The Vicar General of the Good Shepherd Cathedral in Kotido Catholic Diocese, Rev. Fr. Daniel Nabuya, urged Christians to follow the example of the Uganda Martyrs by demonstrating unwavering faith, hope, courage, and making decisive choices.

During his homily, Fr. Nabuya stressed that embodying these virtues would lead believers towards the right path and the promise of eternal life.

He delivered his message at the Good Shepherd Cathedral in Kotido Municipality, where over 100 faithful congregated for a special mass in honor of the Uganda Martyrs.

Sr. Martha Acheng, a member of the congregation, expressed her happiness for the day, stating that she has learnt a lot from the Ugandan martyrs.

Her sentiments were echoed by Teddy Rachael, a teacher at St. Mary’s Nursery School, who shared that the faith of the Uganda martyrs continues to strengthen her faith.

The Uganda Martyrs were a group of 45 young Anglican and Roman Catholic converts to Christianity who were executed between 1885 and 1887 in the Kingdom of Buganda.

They were killed on the orders of Kabaka Mwanga II, the then-king of Buganda, because they refused to renounce their Christian faith.
