Kotido Municipality is currently grappling with understaffing challenges, which are weighing down on effective service delivery.

According to the handover report authored by the former town clerk, Emmanuel Okaja, Kotido Municipality has only three substantive heads of department out of the expected twelve.

The departments with substantive heads include; engineering, Trade, Industry and Local Economic Development, Accounts, and Environment.

Departments lacking substantive heads include; Administrative Department, and Community Based Services Department, Internal Audit Department, and Education and among others.

Despite the recent recruitment to fill over 24 vacant positions, about 75 staff are still needed to achieve a staffing level of 100 percent across all the administrative units in the municipality.

This critical staffing gap, according to the report, has significantly contributed to the Municipality’s decline in the performance of key service delivery outputs.

Moses Lorika, the new Kotido Town Clerk said that the newly appointed staff had not yet assumed office.
